Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has refuted claims that her father didn’t think The Verve were the right choice to headline the festival.
Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft had hinted that Michael Eavis would have preferred Keane to headline the festival, something which Emily denied. Speaking to the BBC, Eavis junior said: "It’s not true at all. We've liked The Verve for ages and we were really pleased to have them on. I'm not sure where the Keane thing came from because Keane were never an option this year"
She went on to say she felt The Verve had ‘really pulled it off this year’ as headliners. Ashcroft had previously thanked Emily for booking them, but implied that he thought her father was not happy with the decision.
Emily Eavis heaped praise on the festival in general, despite slow ticket sales. "I think it was the best Glastonbury crowd we've ever had. They were so determined to make it great".
