Pop star Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz have finally confirmed rumours over their pending parenthood.
Simpson, 23, and 28-year-old Wentz broke the news on Wentz's blog yesterday, just weeks after tying the know at Simpson's California home earlier this month.
"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family," they said.
The couple became engaged in April as rumours of Ashlee's pregnancy began circulating. Wentz even went as far as sending an email to MTV, complaining their reporting as a "witch-hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood".
Wentz responded yesterday to MTV by writing, "Every woman, no matter who they are or what they do for a living, has the right to wait at least 3 months before sharing this very personal news," he wrote. "We wanted to wait until after the first trimester and get a clean bill of health from our doctors before confirming anything, just like any other couple."
"Being a boy I have no idea how to respond to such things and my first instinct was to protect her and the baby."
