An assistant previously hired by R Kelly has named the hitmaker as the man who appears on a video tape which allegedly show him having sex with a minor.
Lindsay Perryman was called to the stand yesterday as the child pornography trial enters its second week in Chicago, and told the jury she was 110% sure it was Kelly in the video, while also identifying the girl, who is alleged to have been aged just 13 or 14 when the explicit film was made.
"I didn't want to think it was them," said Perryman, who worked for Kelly in a number of roles from 1999 to 2006. "I mean, I think so highly of Mr. Kelly and his family. They've been very, very good to me."
However, she was steadfast in her view of the sextape, clearly identifying Kelly and the alleged victim when shown the film. "She has distinct cheekbones, the way she moves her mouth and talks and smiles," she said. "It's very distinctive to her."
And as for the likeness of Kelly, Perryman adds, "The image I saw looked exactly like Mr. Kelly. I did not want to believe it was Mr Kelly. I think so highly of him and his family, they have been so good to me."
During the trial the prosecution has focused on establishing a clear link between Kelly, the alleged victim and the male and female pictured in the video which the defence claims is not Kelly. Four other Oak Park residents have testified that it is Kelly and the alleged victim on the tape, although Kelly's attorneys argue that none new Kelly or the alleged victim personally at the time of the video being leaked to press.
