Sigur Ros have revealed details of their fifth studio album, which was recorded with famed rock producer Flood in various studios across the globe.
In a post on their official website today, the band confirmed new set will be titled Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust' - 'with a buzz in our ear we play endlessly' = and is set for release on June 24th via EMI/XL Recordings.
The first track from the album, entitled “Gobbledigook,” will be given its premier tonight on BBC Radio 1 tonight by Zane Low on the Evening Session.
'With a buzz…' was co-produced by the band and Flood for the first time outside their native Iceland - with sessions throughout 2007 at New York City (at Sear Sound Studios), London (at Assault and Battery Studios and Abbey Road), Reykjavik (at Alafloss, the band’s studio, as well as a church in Reykjavik), and Havana, Cuba.
Amazingly, the set will only feature material written, recorded and mixed entirely in 2008 and is being released just one month after its completion. Interestingly, it is also their first album to feature vocalist Jon “Jonsi” Thor Birgisson’s vocals in English on one track (the remainder are sung in Icelandic). " The record also contains some of the most joyous music the band has ever recorded," according to the PR release.
The set will feature 11 tracks, with the cover featuring several people streaking nude across a motorway . The tracklisting looks like this:
'Gobbledigook'
'Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur'
'Góðan Daginn'
'Við Spilum Endalaust'
'Festival'
'Suð í'
'Ára Bátur'
'Illgresi'
'Fljótavík'
'Straumnes'
'All Alright Eyrum'
