Avril Lavigne has been forced to cancel a string of US live dates after being struck down with acute laryngitis last week.
Two months into a gruelling five-month world tour, the Canadian star has been forced to pull out of six shows this week which would have seen her playing dates across America's West Coast in California and Washington.
"I have been sick this whole tour," she said in a statement following a sound check at Anaheim's Honda Centre. “My sincerest apologies to all of my fans. My intention was to complete the rest of the tour but tonight at sound check in Anaheim I realized this wasn’t possible. Even though I have been resting my voice for days, when I tried to sing nothing came out.”
Lavigne had already pulled shows in San Diego, California, and Phoenix, Arizona.
"I have never cancelled a show in my whole career and just had to for the first time ever. This sux!" she added on her website.
Her next live show is the first of her UK dates, starting May 26th in Glasgow.
