Black Eyed Peas' forthcoming shows in China this summer will go-ahead, despite calls for the band to boycott the country over it's recent human rights record.
In particular focus has been its handling of the Tibetan uprising, which has led to a number of outspoken commentators to speculate if band's should chose to boycott any show in the country at this time. However, frontman Will.i.am says he can think of several other ways the situation should be handled.
"If America really wants to make a difference, it should stop importing China's products and pay back its debt," he said, describing the recent violence in Tibet as "messed up", but saying he felt it wasn't right to punish the country's population at large.
"They have all this Chinese boycott stuff - they want to boycott the games," he added to the BBC, "but do the people get punished when they have nothing to do with what's going on?"
"If you boycott China, when do they boycott America for what we're doing in Iraq?"
