A DMX concert at Indiana University ended in violence last night as fans clashed with police after they pulled the plug on the rap star's live show.
The US rapper was in town to play a charity show, which was due to start at 8.30pm and carried a strict curfew of 9.30. However, the rapper didn't make it to the stage until 9.30, and managed just three songs before the police showed up to pull the plug.
Reports claim a number of students were maced by police after a number of people began reacting angrily, the Indiana Daily Student writes, with many storming into a closed street to escape.
A spokesperson for DMX explained the chain of events in a statement, saying "Regarding the events that took place at the Indiana University DMX Children Uniting Nations concert last night, DMX was not the instigator nor is he to blame for the concert ending early.
"The Bloomfield police cut his show short due to the agreement that Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity had with the University that the concert would stop at 9:30PM because of a noise ordinance law. DMX, management and the promoter were not aware of this law. DMX feels its unfortunate that he could not fully perform for this charity show and he hopes to return to Indiana University in the future for another show."
