Festival bosses have revealed a rock-heavy line up for the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2008, with Metallica and Rage Against the Machine joining previously confirmed headliners The Killers at the top of the bill.
With the Reading Festival entering its twentieth year, and the Leeds leg notching its 10th birthday this year, the August Bank Holiday weekend will see three days of music once again - this year headed by three big US names.
Also confirmed at last night's launch event were the Manic Street Preachers, headlining the NME/Radio 1 Stage, a special co-headline slot between Babyshambles and the Wombats and a closing night headline set from the Cribs.
The full line-up so far sees Rage Against The Machine headline on Friday 22nd August at The Reading Festival / Saturday 23rd August at The Leeds Festival, after main stage sets from Queens of the stone Age, The Fratellis and The Enemy. Also playing are Biffy Clyro, Serj Tankian, Dizzee Rascal, Taking Back Sunday, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and Anti-Flag.
On Saturday 23rd August at The Reading Festival / Sunday 24th August at The Leeds Festival, The Killers headline the main stage with Bloc Party, The Raconteurs, Editors, We Are Scientists, Dirty Pretty Things and The Subways. Manic Street Preachers, Foals and Justice play on the Radio 1/NME stage.
Sunday 24th August at The Reading Festival and Friday 22nd August at The Leeds Festival, the traditional rock day, will see Metallica headline after main stage slots from Tenacious D, Slipknot, Feeder, Avenged Sevenfold and the Dropkick Murphys. On the Radio 1 stage, The Cribs, Conor Oberst and Pendulum bring an indie flavour to the day.
Tickets are on sale now, although very limited.
