A legal challenge over the order granting Britney Spears' father is in control of her assets until July 31 has been dismissed by a judge in the US appeals court.
Lawyer John Eardley, who says he represents the 26-year-old singer, told a judge his client had not been granted enough notice when the order was given in early February of this year. However, the judge said it was not within his powers to grant an appeal sought by Spears.
The singer's father, James Spears, was granted a 'conservatorship', which allocated him emergency powers to oversee her multi-million pound estate in February after Britney was admitted to a psychiatric ward.
Mr Eardley says the singer employed him during a telephone conversation in February. However, the BBC reports that Spears is not permitted to hire a lawyer under the conservatorship order.
in other news, Britney Spears made a well-received guest appearance on hit US TV show How I Met Your Mother on Monday night. Spears played a ditzy receptionist with a crush on the show's main character.
