Mariah Carey has revealed she still suffers from low esteem and hates the way she's portrayed in the media.
The 37-year-old, who suffered a very-public breakdown in 2001 and subsequently received treatment for exhaustion, says she still has confidence issues, despite being one of the planet's most recognised and adored singers.
"It's a dichotomy, I understand," the star tells Allure magazine in the US. "I understand that people think I am a ditzy moron."
"I've always had really low self esteem, and I still do," she adds. "What's weird about that is being on stage, and the love that you get, and the adoration that you feel from your real fans. It's hard for a partner to compete - just imagine."
