Bjork has been given an open invitation to play at this year's Exit Festival despite organisers recently cancelled her slot after she criticised the actions of the state.
The Icelandic singer recently spoke out against the Serbian government and became locked in a public war-of-words with festival boss Bojan Boscovic after dedicating her song 'Declare Independence' to the Balkan state of Kosovo at a recent show in Tokyo.
Kosovo had recently broken out from Serbia's grip after year's of political unrest and fighting in the region, although Serbia still refuses to acknowledge the state's declaration of independence.
Boscovic initially denied he had ditched Bjork because of her remarks, but was forced to backtrack over his decision after Bjork's management said they had correspondence that proved other wise.
He says, of an email in particular that was sent to Bjork's manager, "That email was not an official EXIT statement. It was my email sent showing my great concern about what is going on.
"Two weeks later I have a different opinion about it. We do want to see her at EXIT. We're trying to see with management now if this is the best time to have her. There is an open invitation."
The EXIT festival takes place this year in Novi Sad from 12-16 July.
