
Soul newcomer Duffy has stormed to the top of the official UK Top 40 singles this week with 'Mercy'.
The track takes over from Basshunter's 'Now You're Gone', which drops to three after five weeks at the top, just behind Nickelback's 'Rockstar' at two.
R&B star David Jordan's 'Sun Goes Down' moves up one place to four and Adele's 'Chasing Pavements' is down two spots to five. Dance act H two O had their new song 'What's It Gonna Be', was a new entry at seven, while The Feeling's 'I thought It Was Over' moves up three to No. 9. Goldfrapp's 'A&E' rounded out this week's top ten, after moving up eight places.
Meanwhile Hawaiian singer Jack Johnson continued his rule on the UK's album charts for the second week with 'Sleep Through the Static', with Nickelback again at two with 'All The Right Reasons'.
Michael Jackson's 25th anniversary reissue of his iconic album 'Thriller', featuring new mixes from Kanye West and Will.i.am, landed at three, ahead of Adele's '19' and Morrissey's 'Greatest Hits'.
