Amy Winehouse may be doing her best to stay away from the glaze of the tabloids after cancelling her tour following her husband's incarceration, but her parents seem to have taken over in the column inches this week after a row broke out between her mother and father.
The Rehab star was pictured last week in a friend's back garden wearing just jeans and a bra at 4am, sparking fresh concerns for her well-being. And despite a rebuff from her spokesperson that she was fine, her mother, Janis, sent an open letter to the troubled singer pleading with her to "pick up the phone" and "come home".
That letter, which was published in the tabloids, sparked Winehouse's dad, Mitch - who split from Janis when Amy was nine-years-old - to launch an angry tirade against Janis' claims that her daughter is not being properly looked after.
"It is absolute rubbish to suggest that no one has been in touch with Amy. I've seen her five times myself last week. We're getting sick of the sight of each other, we are seeing each other that much," said Mitch.
"Amy is monitored all the time. She is with trusted people who care for her and look out for her. We are all encouraging and helping Amy at the minute and that is what is most important."
Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is currently being held on charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, after reports that he attempted to pay off a man he had allegedly assaulted.
