The Police have been unveiled as the headline act for the 2008 Isle of Wight Festival, organisers have revealed.
The band will play a closing night slot on Sunday 15th of June, closing the famed music event after three days of live music, and according to the organisers, it will follow the Rolling Stones' headline slot this year as an exclusive for the Dorset event.
"It's a coup to get The Police," said promoter John Giddings. "We're very happy to have the biggest tour of the last two years stopping by."
Their world tour, which kicked off in late May in the U.S., had recently been named top-grossing and top-selling worldwide tour of 2007 by Billboard magazine, with the three-piece hitting the far east and Australia next year before returning to Europe.
Tickets for Isle of Wight 2008 will be on sale from 10 December.
