Meatloaf has taken the difficult decision to scrap the final gigs on his current European tour as his voice continues to deteriorate.
The rocker, 60, pulled two shows in Birmingham and Newcastle on doctors advice after discovering a cyst on his vocal chords, and was due to play Wembley Arena in London last night.
"It really breaks my heart not to be able to perform these shows," says Meat Loaf. "I was really looking forward to capping off a great year and celebrating the start of the holidays with the fans.
"But I have to do what the doctors tell me so I can look forward to healing and coming back strong in 2008."
Meatloaf's problems began a week ago at his Newcastle show, when he abruptly left the stage telling fans, "I can no longer continue. I take my coat off and thank you for 30 years."
He was subsequently diagnosed with an inter-vocal cord cyst, which is likely to need surgery. However, many sufferers receive voice therapy before going under the knife, and Meatloaf may still be able to avoid the operating room.
The star will know within six weeks if surgery is his only option, but adds to his fans, "Let me dispel any rumours before they start - I will be back."
