Jennifer Lopez is facing a showdown with her record label Epic over the massive performance and production costs associated with releasing her albums.
According to reports, the pop diva's excessive demands and lavish videos mean that her label is struggling to make ends meet for one of its biggest stars. Her last album "Brave" only shifted 53,000 copies in it's first week of release, and didn't even make the top ten.
“She costs too much money and doesn’t sell enough,” says a source. “Her last album cover alone cost $60,000 in hair and makeup, lighting, photographers, re-touching, etc. The video budget was in the neighbourhood of $300,000.”
That’s only for the album, then she has the performances promoting the album such as appearances on “Good Morning America.”
“Epic had to eat the cost for that entire performance. From her makeup — which typically costs in the neighbourhood of $8,000 per day — to the backup singers, to the rigging, lighting and sound.”
