The Hendrix Experience, Jimi Hendrix's famed band, reunited yesterday night in London to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his famed appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival.
All three of the original members - guitarist Gary Moore, drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox - hit the stage for a special one-off show at London's Hippodrome, joined by Primal Scream drummer Darrin Mooney and Dave Bronze.
Kicking off at 9pm sharp, the concert followed the screening of the Jimi Hendrix Monterey footage - which had kept fans amused for much of the evening. The Monterey festival show has been described by many as the greatest gig of all time and shot Hendrix to international fame as he played guitar with his teeth, set fire to his famous Stratacaster and smashed up the stage.
The all-star Hendrix tribute concert saw Hendrix's fellow musicians blast through some of his biggest hits, as well as draw on some of their famed extended jam pieces.
