Nas has changed the title of his forthcoming album from "Nigga" to "Niger", after a barrage of criticism from black rights groups. However, he's telling the world not to judge the album on it's confrontational title alone.
The new set is scheduled for release on Dec. 11 through Def Jam, his second for Jay-Z's Universal Records imprint, despite news to the contrary that the album had been shelved. Speaking to MTV News this week, the NEw York-based hip-hop star was quick to attack speculation that he had alienated parts of his fanbase with the title.
"You ain't got no business worrying about what the word 'n*gger' is or acting like you know what my album is about without talking to me," Nas tells MTV.com in response to negative critisism from rights campaigners like Reverend Jesse Jackson.
