
The city of Dublin has granted planning permission to a consortium of property developers which include U2 to build an iconic skyscraper in the Irish capital, Sound Generator can report.
Dublin's Docklands Development Authority have confirmed that the city's first high rise structure will be designed by Norman Foster, the man behind the Gherkin in London and the Millau Viaduct in France,
Foster has been awarded a budget of 200m Euros to build the structure following a commission by Geranger Ltd, a consortium which includes members of the Irish rock group. Additionally, the tower feature an egg-shaped recording studio at its peak.
Work is expected to start next year for completion in 2011.
