George Michael started work yesterday at a homeless hostel in London as part of the conditions for his May conviction for driving while unfit.
The pop superstar was sentenced to a total of 100 hours of community service and banned from driving for two years after being found slumped over the wheel of his car in North London, and after beginning his sentence yesterday told press he enjoyed getting his hands dirty - literally!
After arriving at the homeless hostel in a chauffeur-driven car, Michael emerged three hours later after working with staff at the halfway house.
"I'm just like everyone else," he said. "If you do something stupid, you have to pay the price. I've been doing some gardening and really enjoyed it. I'll do whatever they want me to do. I don't want any special treatment."
