Three lads stalked onto the stage at Koko looking like a group of roadies (they later joked that Lauren Laverne had once mistaken them for just that.) But once the sweet music started it became clear that the Buckinghamshire trio weren’t anybody’s road crew.
Hot off the back of their Mercury nominated second album, Twice Born Men, they played a mix up from this one and as well as their first, jumping from country to electro, with singer Tim Elsenburg sounding straight out of a gospel choir on one song. As they wrapped up a satisfied murmur fell over the crowd and two ladies nearby exclaimed: “Who were that band? They sounded absolutely lovely.”
