The humble punter’s – eye view of live London

by Tourdates staff writer, first published in LondonTourdates #037 ,12th December 2008

What’s your favourite London music venue?
Koko. It’s just beautiful and has such an interesting history. It’s also small and intimate with great quality of sound and a good bar.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever seen?
The Beastie Boys on the Ill Communication Tour at Olympia in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I‘d waiting for so long for a good gig and then this turned up – it was just amazingly explosive.

What was the worst gig you’ve ever seen?
Don’t like hip hop or rap gigs any longer, and I think never did, except The Beastie Boys. It’s strange though cos I like the music a lot, from the iPod to the dance floor, but not gigs at all. Don’t know why, the music just doesn’t hit me

What was the last gig you went to and how was it?
It was something at the Old Blue Last. The band’s name… damn I don’t remember, but they were good!

What was the first gig you ever went to?
It was the Rock In Rio II Festival on 20 January 1991, with Guns & Roses, Faith No More, Billy Idol and Titas.

Which band from throughout history would you have liked to see?
Nirvana, definitely.
