Considering the fact that a) my knowledge of music of the last 10 years could be forgivingly described as ‘limited’, coupled with the fact that b) I know less about the current scene than the average newborn, I fail to see what worth any ‘tips’ I might care to offer might have.
And that said, Edinburghian pop-punk group Come on Gang! (named in homage to the Can Do spirit of those insipid Enid Blyton novels that everyone seemed to read in early adolescence) are well worth checking out as are electro/dutch-pop Aussies Art vs Science.
However, this coming year my eyes will be most closely fixed upon Pinky Beecroft & The White Russians, the more sober new vehicle for the absurdly multi-talented frontman of the now sadly defunct Machine Gun Fellatio. A (very) young beast made up of old hands, it’ll be exciting to see what the inimitable Pinky & Co. come up with.
