
Ever since Motley Crue’s The Dirt became a staple of rock fans’ bookshelves there have been murmurings of a glam metal revival.
Plenty of straight-up 80s tributes have arisen only to fall at the first hurdle of the Camden bar circuit, but no-one has proved quite capable of dragging a long maligned sound into the modern age. Dear Superstar then are at the crest of an emerging new wave, blending bruising metalcore influences with the sartorial and guitar solo excesses of years gone by.
Already veterans of the UK live circuit by the time they signed with Demolition records to release album Heartless this autumn they’re equally at ease supporting old-guard label-mates like Hanoi Rocks, as they are charming the slanty-fringed young fans of Kids In Glass Houses or Bullet For My Valentine, who incidentally make a cameo appearance on the album.
