The humble punter’s – eye view of live London

by Tourdates Staff Writer, first published in LondonTourdates #031 ,19th September 2008

What’s your favourite London music venue?
Dublin Castle in Camden put gigs on in the backroom - pretty cool. Hammersmith Apollo is also good, and G.A.Y.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever seen?
The Strokes in Nottingham ‘cos I love them. Broken Records in Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh were amazing, and Patrick Wolf at Connect Festival.

What was the worst gig you’ve ever seen?
I saw Westlife when I was 13 as part of a Smash Hits tour. Don’t tell anyone - it was horrific.

What was the last gig you went to?
I last saw Withered Hand. It was OK - he got steadily more pissed though.

What was the first gig you ever went to?
I think that was Westlife too. But that was with my Dad and sister. Independently I saw Electric Six when I was about 16. We met them afterwards. Yeah!

Which band from throughout history would you have liked to see?
T.REX! Also Bob Dylan, to punch the ‘Judas’, oh guy and The Faces.
