The humble punter’s – eye view of live London

by Tourdates Staff Writer, first published in LondonTourdates #028 ,8th August 2008

What’s your favourite London music venue?
Favourite London music venue is a close call between Koko and Astoria. Even though I appreciate the lights and sound at Astoria, Koko is my favourite because it has an atmosphere, an ambience. It’s great to explore and it’s got good views.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever seen?
Best gig I’ve ever seen was These New Puritans at Koko. Great set and sound, good crowd and good views.

What was the worst gig you’ve ever seen?
Worst gig I’ve ever seen is, I don’t know, it’s been so long since I’ve really not liked any of the shows I’ve been to. Although, saying that, what I saw of Yeasayer at the ICA recently left me perplexed.

What was the last gig you went to?
Last gig I went to was Ipso Facto at ICA, supporting Yeasayer.

What was the first gig you ever went to?
First gig I ever went to, aside from a festival, must have been Hundred Reasons or The Get Up Kids, way back. Not my choice now, but back then, not bad.

Which band from throughout history would you have liked to see?
Definitely The Velvet Underground, playing at The Dom in New York in the Exploding Plastic Inevitable shows in the summer of ’66.
