Try Before You Buy - Apples For Everyone
'bagpipes to bongos'

by Tourdates Staff Writer, first published in LondonTourdates #027 ,25th July 2008

Apples For Everyone are a London-based band who err on the folkish side of things. We say ‘band’, but perhaps ‘collective’ would be a better, as this lot number 15 members, of both sexes and of all ages. Democracy in action, they say.

Instrumentally, they range from flutes, trumpets and violins to bagpipes and bongos. They got together last year with the simple aim of enjoying playing music with a lot of other people, and now they are performing in various esteemed venues around London with their own material, such as Boston Music Room and The Windmill. They have caught the ear of Steve Harris at XFM and Matchbox Records and have reached the regional semi-finals of Surface Unsigned, for what it’s worth.

With a first album already recorded and available at shows, Apples For Everyone’s dream may finally bear fruit.
