What are the five albums that have most influenced you?
A Night At The Opera – Queen, OK Computer – Radiohead, Little Earthquakes – Tori Amos, Abbey Road – The Beatles, The Definitive Collection – The Kinks.
What’s the best concert you have ever been to?
Probably the Arcade Fire set at Glastonbury last year. I wasn’t intending to watch them, but I was passing by and ended up watching their whole set. I was spellbound. They put on a great show.
If you could have been a musician in any era when would it be?
Definitely the 70s. Proper rock ’n’ roll era, not like the stage-schooled, interview-prepped idols we have today.
What’s the best gig you have ever performed?
Best gig probably when we headlined the Cavern Club in Liverpool for the IPO festival. Even though it’s not the original cavern, playing on the same site as The Beatles was a real buzz and it was a fantastic international crowd, wicked atmosphere.
Is there any particular venue you would like to play?
Royal Albert Hall. Acoustically close to perfection and such a beautiful building.
What books have you read and films have you seen recently?
No Country for Old Men. Brilliant! There Will Be Blood and The Squid And The Whale too.
CD, vinyl or MP3?
CD’s I’m afraid. Too young and not cool enough for vinyl and still like to have something physical to hold, although slowly giving into the MP3 era.
John or Paul?
Both. John Paul II was a great pope.
East Coast or West Coast?
Australia? Definitely East Coast!
Dylan or Elvis?
Dylan. My dad played his tapes in the car and I cut my teeth on his songs.
