Try Before You Buy - Saevio
Loud, melodic and sexy...

by Tourdates Staff Writer, first published in LondonTourdates #024 ,13th June 2008

Saevio (it means ‘to take violent action’) formed in March 2007 in the East London district of Higham’s Park with the express purpose of emulating their 90s rock heroes such as Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine and Pearl Jam, with a bit of contemporary bite in there too – for better or worse they cite Kasabian as influences.

The band themselves describe their sound as ‘loud, melodic and sexy’. With anvil-heavy riffs and lyrics inspired by singer Mathew Jones’s stint in rehab (clearly, they mean business), Saevio have managed to earn themselves gigs at the Underworld in Camden, as well as Islington Academy as part of XFM Uploaded. They have released one EP, entitled This Way Out, which is four tracks of no-nonsense rock at its most unpretentious. The blokey quartet, who all met in school, remains unsigned.
