Supported by The Metros, who showcased what could have been early demos by The Jam, The Arctic Monkeys and The Undertones, The View took to the stage just after 9pm, encouraged by the now ritualistic chant of “The View, The View, The View are on fire”…
So indeed were the attending throng, who went into total frenzy, cans and bottles threatening to blind Kyle Falconer. With an average age of twenty the band were impressive in not letting egos get in the way of their performance, especially in sharing lead vocals between co-songwriters Falconer and Kieren Webster, who both excelled. On anthems like ‘Same Jeans’, ‘Superstar Tradesman’ and ‘Little Wasted DJ’s’, Falconer’s vocal delivery was of Alex Turner and Roger Daltrey calibre.
At 10pm sharp, the foursome left the stage to nobody’s surprise but mine, seemingly for the largely underage audience’s safety. Selfishly, I resented the curfew and cried rip-off.
