Most Sunday nights are spent either dreading the Monday morning return to the office or down the boozer, however for 9,000 lucky Londoners this Sunday night was spent in the company of Calvin Harris (complete with chavy clothing ensemble) and the Chemical Brothers.
A nervous Harris warmed up the crowd with his signature tune ‘Acceptable in the 80s’ with accompanying 3D graphics (watch out for the flying Care Bear), yet the 3D images could not distract from the poor sound – strange that the volume was increased for his well-known hits and lowered for the potential new releases.
Anyone who has seen the Chemical Brothers this year could pretty much predict the set list. Mesmerising and somewhat scary videos grabbed the crowd’s attention thus allowing Tom Rowland and Ed Simons to ‘push the button’ or whatever it is that DJs do to look busy on stage. A fusion of classic hits ‘Galvanise’, ‘Out of Control’ and ‘Star Guitar’ was interrupted by songs from latest album We Are The Night, all of which transformed Trafalgar Square into the ultimate dance floor.
