Starting out in early september as a full band, Jules and the Rubies played gigs in small honest venues such as The Ivy House pub in Holborn, and The Basement Door in Richmond, under the name of Jules O'Brien. With Jules having played small shows by herself for a year or so on her guitar, she picked up a bassist, drummer and eventually a viola player to compliment her songs. Within months they have picked up gigs at The Old Queen's Head, The Bedford Bandstand, and Ronnie Scott Jazz Club's bar, Ronnie's.
