Jet was founded in Melbourne, Australia by brothers Nic and Chris Cester – who were later joined by Nic's mate from school Cameron Muncey and Mark Wilson, whom they had met at a gig.Together they self released their first album but faced troubles meeting recognition. So as they released their EP ‘Dirty Sweet’, they only pressed 1000 copies. At the same time on the same continent fellow band The Vines were breaking through, bringing international interest in Australian rock. The demand for Jet’s EP grew and they had to press another 1000 copies. The likes of NME started praising Jet’s music and the band was offered a record deal by Elektra Records.Jet’s debut album ‘Get Born’ was re-released in 2003, Jet toured with the Rolling Stones and single ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ was voted number 1 on national Australian radio Triple J’s hottest 100 of 2003.Jet’s music became the soundtrack for Spider man movie as well as for two major worldwide advertising campaigns (Apple's iPod and Vodafone).The band's second album ‘Shine On’ was released in October last year.
