Who Said Music Was Dead?
After a year of experimenting and revitalising their tastes in music, Idol Minds hit 2008 with plenty of force, kicking off the year with an illustrious gig at Liverpool's infamous The Cavern Club.
The band moved through the next couple of months writing new material and developing it at local pubs and clubs, to which they found great responses. The lads then hit the studio, recording most of the tunes you hear on the myspace and many more.
With March dawning on the lads, they entered into the national competition 'Live and Unsigned'. They passed the auditions with consummate ease, and then moved through the semi finals, recieving high praise from the panel of judges.
After an extremely long weekend playing at The Grand Theatre in Lancaster and Peel Castle, the lads moved into the final, unfortunatly the weekend proved too much and they were pipped out of a victory by an overly supported band, but the lads were not down heartend.
The Lads then supported upcoming band 'Team Waterpolo' at The Hexagon, of which was played to a packed crowd and a glowstick equipt army of youth in the upcoming weeks to this competition.
After failing on one competition, Idol Minds did not want this lightning to strike twice. They were put forward by reccomendations into a North Western competition (Hyperwire) in which by public demand (text votes) Idol Minds made it into the final, and hence performed at Preston's illustrious 53 Degrees club. The Lads had tough competition from the Vangos but eventually won the competition and in doing so earned them some well needed studio time.
The Gang have also played gigs at the Morecambe Dome, for SONIC BOOM (under 18s biggest rock night), amongst playing around most of Morecambe and Lancasters pubs.
As the summer arrived the lads had earned themselves a dream gig in London, at Brixton Jamm supporting the great Andy Rourke (The Smiths), after an extremely long jouney and an adventure round the overly crowded streets of London, they eventually made their way to the gig. After a packed gig of the London faithfull, the lads eventually stumbled back to their four star hotel and partied long into the night.....only to travel all the way back up to Lancaster the folowing day, to headline Williamsons Parklife Festival.
After forming In early 2006, Idol Minds have experienced a great deal, and for a group of such young musicians, surely things can only get better. .
