Emilie Chick is a French-American songstress defining her style through numerous musical experiences.
She grew up between North America and France and joined her first band (Bossa Nova) at 17 by curiosity and has never stopped since.
In barely a couple of years she made fierce progress moving from classic Rythm n’Blues covers in piano-bars (South of France) to Los Angeles where she performed with an experimental Funk band (Inhaler).
Back in France she began various projects including a House improv act in clubs all over France and met famous French DJ Antoine Clamaran who featured her on his first album (“Release Yourself”, Sing a Song 2002).
In 2003 she teamed up with a London based Electro Hip-Hop DJ collective (Dapond) to record and perform (Cargo, Harry’s Social Club) and learned heaps about production and programming.
2005 was a turning point: Emilie headed for a solo project with a producer-friend in south of France (“This is Emilie Chick Speaking”) but also recorded “Bag U Should” with Quizz (Dialect Recordings, remixed by Charles Webtser, L’Aroye & Ky, playlisted on Radio Nova and many others).
A new collaboration with Antoine Clamaran set his single “Keep on Trying” (2006) as a big hit in clubs around the world.
2008 saw her win Gilles Peterson’s Worlwide Festival Talent Search and work with Charles Webtser and Atjazz (aka Version) ; their first single featuring on “’Defected presents Charles Webster” compilation (April 2008) is called “The Brighter Side”.
…The best is yet to come, stay tuned!
