Diarmaid O Meara
"Maximal techno with a twist"
A three turntable wizard with a flair for the unexpected, Irish techno peddler, Diarmaid O’Meara, has been busy rocking parties, producing tracks and carving a little corner of the dance music industry with which to call his own.
A co-founder of Irelands premiere tough techno label and brand, "Gobsmacked Records", Diarmaid, who was recently branded by M8 Magazine as "One To Watch", is known for his energetic approach to three turntable techno sets and productions of dance floor wrecking tracks. Since his first vinyl release in 2006, his productions have gone from strength to strength with releases on several labels, almost constant airplay across European radio stations, including BBC Radio 1, XFM etc and several big hitter releases including 'Swear tin', 'An Inconvenient Abomination', 'Paranoid' and 'World Order' which have been clubs and festivals worldwide. His music and abilities have been featured on everything from local fanzines to magazines for the masses and regional radio stations to international music channels. This work ethic coupled with a busy djing schedule means Diarmaid only sees light these days when he's playing, promoting or partying.
A master of the three deck mix and not one to dilly dally, Diarmaid's sets are always explosive, always off the cuff and use as much vinyl as physically possible. A regular party performer, the intensity of his sets have been at the forefront of his momentum since his first gig.
Still in his early twenty's, Diarmaid has built up a brand in the form of 'Gobsmacked'. From running mini festivals and events all around Ireland to releasing downright filthy techno on vinyl, cd and digital download from some of the biggest, best and brightest techno has to offer. Almost always pushing energetic techno except when the experimental sounds call, Gobsmacked is quickly becoming an internationally renowned name for pushing floor wrecking techno tracks and having sold countless physical and digital releases, its almost guaranteed.. if you listen to techno, you've heard a Gobsmacked record.
Now in full swing with numerous releases under his belt, countless gigs, an acclaimed album and an endless list of projects on the horizon, I think its fair to say that Diarmaid is one to keep a keen ear out for.
