Dexy
"Country / Punk / Indie"
At first glance British country punk may seem a bundle of contradictions but when you break it down, there is more synergy between the two musical movements from opposite sides of the pond than you’d hazard to guess at. A discourse shaped by pain, a need to tell a story and an ache for something different. For all his 28 years, London one man band Dexy is an old soul with an instinctive understanding of light and shade. Tracks like ‘Dying Breed’ and ‘Pretty Soon’ show a sensitive songwriter with a raw yet very accessible talent. The songs pour out of him and you can’t help but be sucked in. Heck, you want to pull up a stool and have a drink with the man.

Having already recruited a band of loyal followers on London’s indie circuit, Dexy is set to continue his slow revolution at the Camden Crawl this spring. It might not be televised – yet – but there’s no doubting he’s the real McCoy. It’s only a matter of time...

"Initially appears like some frail and kooky yet homely softly strummed gem before magnificently morphing into a warming haze of beautifully encoded bubblegum pop that finds itself all at once bestriding all routes via the west coast psyche pop, 50’s drive in teen movies and 70’s glam...a rare touching beauty of some measure."
