Demure have decided to get all ‘military’ about their new EP enigmatically titled, ‘D1’
“We drilled those songs really hard,” says Demure front-man and lead vocalist Johnny B. Band members recognize that their band strength is based on certain ethical principles. Demure wants to remain honest to shared ideals of authenticity and harmony. “We want to remain modest, thoughtful and unpretentious” Johnny says. Demure started back in college days and a first wonderful gig at the Bull & Gate. Now the band is settled with a line-up that includes John on vocals and guitar, chirpy Philip Price on lead guitar, Chris Caller on bass and Neil ‘Stix’ Rawles on drums. The EP includes three newly recorded tracks, ‘1vision’, ‘T’ and ‘She’ll Be Just Fine’ plus a live bonus track. “With this new EP we have found that we are more ‘in control’ as a band.” says Johnny B, whose rich baritone vocals have been compared to Eddie Vedder Philip Price is the classically trained lead guitarist. Phil cites his influences as far ranging as ‘Reuben’ and ‘Hundred Reasons’ and he prefers his guitar sounds to be subtle with “less shred”. Chris Caller is the band’s self taught bassist. Chris admits to being a “Complete musical perfectionist. ” He has an almost telepathic empathy with the Demure drummer Neil ‘Stix’ Rawles whose maturity, wisdom and professional approach to music making has helped the band achieve a great deal of media interest and a reputation for sensational live shows- aiming to always leave the crowds hollering for more. Reaching new highs on this EP, the Demure formula includes captivating hooks, attention to detail and an enviable cohesiveness between the percussive elements of the band- culminating in an accomplished and energetic performance time-after-time. As bassist Chris sums their work up, “we enjoy ourselves so much! We work in harmony ... when we’re rockin’ all the interaction, all the electricity, all the energy... it feels pretty good - feeding off each other, feeding off the crowd ... “
