Deicide were formed in 1987 when guitarist Brian Hoffman replied to an advertisement from bassist and singer Glen Benton. They soon recruited Hoffman's brother Eric, and Steve Ashiem on drums. The Hoffman brothers have since left the band, though they have been replaced by Jack Owen on guitar. They take their influences from classic death metal bands such as Slayer, Venom and Destruction in order to form their death metal sound. The band have released nine studio albums so far, the most recent being 'Till Death Do Us Part' in 2008. Deicide have attracted controversy for their anti-Christian lyrics and have had several videos and songs banned from television and radio.
