‘Death of an Icon’ formed as retaliation to the ‘bubblegum’ rock and metal presently infecting the music scene today. Lifeless music with no substance and regurgitated song structures and lyric lines (money-making machines)… We believe it’s about time rock and metal grew some balls, retaliated, and got its soul back ! Forming in April 2007, from the demise of various local bands, 'Death of an Icon is currently based in Cardiff/Pontypridd, South Wales, UK. ‘Death of an Icon’ have already individually reached a wide audience and played many key stages across the U.K, Europe and South Africa. Taking influences and ethics from the British rock movement in the 70’s and the Seattle alt/grunge scene; ‘Death of an Icon’ balances soulful in-depth lyrics with bone-crushing rhythm force!
After receiving favourable press in publications such as 'Rocksound' and 'Plugged in' and the release of their debut album 'To arms citizens!' 2009 looks bright for DOAI with a nationwide tour planned for the early summer...Rock on!!!
