South West England based singer/songwriter and former Torbay Arts Council Solo Artist Of The Year, Darren Fisher is releasing his debut single ‘On A Roll’ as a summer single on June 22nd. It is a funky composition telling the story of a slightly twisted Saturday night out on the town and with its cool summer vibe, he is hoping it will capture the imagination of the music listening public all across the globe. The single is already being picked up by various radio stations including BBC Radio Devon, where in the words of presenter Kev Huthchings ‘It is going down a storm’
Darren, a travelling troubadour who has performed all over Europe and The United States already has one studio album to his name, an earthy collection of acoustic songs with a laid back, dreamy and thoughtful feel called ‘Feathers And Oak Trees’ and is currently recording his second, ‘Dance In The Rain’ which is an all together more upbeat, electric rock guitar driven record with a complete band sound and ‘On A Roll’ is the first of many potential single releases from this album.
He has a very unique sounding vocal, somewhere in-between that of James Blunt, Michael Stipe and Ben Harper but it is instantly recognisable as the voice of Darren Fisher. Add that to his finely tuned sense for writing and recording memorable songs and his highly inspirational lyrics which mirror his vibrant and positive personality and you have the ingredients for a potential future superstar.
The single is available on various online music distribution sites including itunes and there is a professionally recorded video to accompany it with a contrasting darker and artistic element that is inspired by the antics of a certain superstar producer from yesteryear and will be available to view on his website on the day of the single release.
Darren, who is now in his thirties represents a common shift in modern society, in that he refuses to bow down to the pressures of life making him relinquish his dreams. Far from it, he is more driven and determined now than ever before. He still carries all the passion and energy that triggered him off on his artistic journey in the first place and is the epitome of the phrase ‘Thirty is the new twenty.’
A truly inspirational character with a heart warming yet mysterious personality summed up by BBC Southern Counties presenter Phil Jackson, ‘Singing songs in the style of Dylan and Donovan, Darren is a storyteller to music, yet I find his voice more tuneful and resonant than these old favourites and his hippy look is matched by his gentle manner, friendly smile and soft speaking voice.’
