Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are one of the first bands to truly ride the web surf and be carried into the mainstream on a wave of online acclaim. It all began when the five-piece-band (based in Brooklyn) stated mailing copies of their self-released debut album from their apartment. The trickle of order soon became an unmanageable flow and influential alternative websites turned Clap Your Hands Say Yeah into favourites among the web name-droppers.As record sales reached 40 000, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah secured a distribution deal and were then signed to Bloc Party’s label Wichita.Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are Alec Ounsworth, Lee Sargent, Robbie Guertin, Tyler Sargent, and Sean Greenhalgh.
