Originally forming in January 2006 in the city of Salisbury, the band derived their name from a GCSE history video on the Cold War, and started looking around them for names to make referencing their songs a little easier. “The British City Hysterical” set the ball rolling, with call and respond guitar parts and a confident chorus, finishing in a resounding outro.
By November 22nd they’d mustered enough for a 6-song set at the Salisbury Arts Centre, “1971”, “More like Lying than Playing” and “Running into Walls” have since been left to the history books, along with two successful covers of Bloc Party and Arctic Monkeys which were experimented with at house parties to supportive groups of friends and family.
The band then attempted to tap into a darker, more intricate style with “Vacancy”, a song with ultimately took 6 months to write. In June 2007 the band parted ways with their drummer Bim, with whom they still remain close friends to this day. The band started practicing with Mike Shaw, who provided the finish to “Vacancy” and the necessary vigour for pop anthem “She Tries”.
Since then things seem to have taken off. New song “Don’t Look Now!” was a continuation of the more intricate and haunting style which “Vacancy” laid the foundations for, leading on to the infectious “Horse Race”, “Piano Lessons” and “These Walls”. The band has played a number of village halls and parties, as well as to massive supportive crowd at Salisbury Library. Since 2008 the band has played both The George in Andover and The Winchester Gate in Salisbury twice, as well as a gig at the Southampton Joiners. In April they recorded “These Walls” EP with Sonny Earl Collinson, and continue to write songs and perform wherever they can.
