August Way
"A unique blend of acoustic pop mixed in with delicate harmonies , beautiful lyrics and intense, atmospheric cello moments."
August Way are one of the most interesting independent Australian bands on the current musical horizon.

Fusing contemporary pop/rock with classical cello and orchestral flourishes and with powerfully emotional lyrics, the uplifting and haunting "This Is The Other World" was a solid debut from a band which is only just beginning to hit their stride.

The group was formed when classically trained cellist and vocalist Mobius, previously of award winning Aussie band George, began writing songs and making music and with singer/guitarist Omen Facto, bass player Brendan Elliott and drummer Julian Porter. The band all live in Northern New South Wales.

The band took the name in August 2004 after meeting producer Phil Slade, with whom they then went on to record their debut album “This Is The Other World” – a particularly apt title as this evocative work lifts you out of the everyday and carries you into an ‘other world’ of its own.

“This Is The Other World” was well received for an Independent release and reached Number 15 on the iTunes Top Download Charts. The disc, released in May 2006, yielded three singles - "Here Where You Are", "Beloved" and "Heartbeat" which received national airplay in Australia and the U.K. August Way were recently listed in the ‘20 Most Requested Independent Artists’ on Talksport Radio in the UK.

Elsewhere on the album, distinctive tracks like the ASA Award winning "Soulfire" and the aching, slow burning epic "Sweetest Kind of Paint" established the group's range and diversity.

August Way toured extensively in support of the album, playing shows in intimate venues throughout Australia. Opening for some of Australia’s best-loved performers along the way, including Mark Seymour (Holy Grail, Throw Your Arms Around Me) and Human Nature (The Motown Record).

The band also found time to record an acoustic EP "Other Side Of The World", which featured four previously unreleased tracks as well as acoustic versions of “Here Where You Are”, “Miss You Already” and “Sunshine”, and was released on iTunes as an exclusive download.

Later that year August Way wrote recorded an exclusive track “Louder Than Words” as a show of support for the climate crisis. This was featured as ‘Single of the Week’ on iTunes Australia. “Louder Than Words” is currently still available only to subscribers and not available on any other release.
In 2007, August Way toured the U.S and Europe, including an appearance at The Bedford Bandstand in London, opening for Tony Moore (I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight) - a performance which the band describes as the highlight of their career to date and which led to the group signing a deal with Excellence Records in the UK.

This remarkable tour capped a roller coaster year for August Way - a year which in many ways traced the journey of band. The undeniable spark that the band felt together onstage at that extraordinary show ignited their readiness to make another album.

The long awaited second album promises to be a more adventurous piece of work than "This Is The Other World". Preliminary tracking has already commenced in a backyard studio. The new album will meld elements from the band's previous work while exploring more new musical territory than anything they've done yet.

August Way will be doing a few Australian shows in May/June '08 to roadtest some of the second album material and give Australian audiences a chance to be the first to hear the new songs and to see the band before they return to the U.K to tour later in the year.
