Apocalyptica are a Cello metal band from Finland. Though rare amongst the mainstream, cello metal fuses classically trained cellists and a backline to combine a haunting sound, something that Apocalyptica have mastered. The band have released eight studio albums to date, though their first three relying heavily on covers. In fact, their first album was made up entirely of Metallica covers. Their first album that consisted entirely of their own songs was 2003's 'Reflections'. Apocalyptica have toured consistently in 2008, playing several festivals and a date with their heroes Metallica.
