Reviews of Answers On Postcards!

ANSWERS on Postcards really stretch the boundaries of modern Indie music to offer something completely different to what you would expect from most Indie bands today. They still have the clangy guitars and mixed up tempo you will undoubtedly get from most modern bands but their music is a heavier take on old fashioned rock and roll music rather than a new, typical Indie sound.

In fact, at times, the singer’s voice bears an uncanny resemblance to the great Elvis Presley and there is still an underlying hint of pop to their style. This is not only both new and refreshing but what’s more, ‘She’s All Mine’ is a perfectly crafted, well written song.

Documenting the sheer joy of getting the woman you want, the chorus is both lively and poppy, making your foot tap uncontrollably. Perfectly mixing pop and rock, Answers on Postcards add the poppy elements of Take That to the guitar work of Razorlight and the Arctic Monkeys.

And if you noticed the resemblance to 50s rock and roll in ‘She’s All Mine,’ you will surely notice it in ‘It’s That Time Again’ as its upbeat, fast paced rocky sound reminds you of a frantic ballroom dance competition, whilst maintaining some traditional Indie roots. There is still a mix of rock and pop but adding the two creates a real, jaunty 50’s rock and roll song.

Just when you thought you had heard everything Indie music has to offer, Answers on Postcards come along and reinvent the genre - this is just what Indie needed!

MYBRUMTV/Birmingham Independent

"Bright, breezy, uplifting and as commercial as hell this, once again, demonstrates Answers On Postcards' ability, eagerness and readiness to join the lucky few at the top of their game"

"She's All Mine and its 'AA' side, 'It's That Time Again' gives vent to Answers On Postcards' ebullient , trade-mark sound - at least these guys have something that identifies them from the hoards"

"Loads of jangly guitars behind the mature sounding vocals combined with their own inimitable catchy hooks should allow Answers On Postcards to make their mark in pop history"

Peter J Brown aka toxic pete (www.toxicpete.co.uk)

Finding itself somewhere between Razorlight and The Cure, this is modern british guitar pop at it’s grandest, with a whiff of Britpop’s past and the raggedness of it’s future this is a slice of pure class…

Subba-cultcha.com

"This is a song that could cause a dent in some movie soundtrack with its catchy chorus mesmerising a listener"

The second track ‘It’s That Time Again’ adds more of a bounce, but remains a feel good tune. These are two incredibly scrumptious songs.

Review by Room Thirteen

"Happy-go-lucky guitar riffs, as originally nailed by The Jam and then rehashed for the modern age by Babyshambles, permeate this group's tunes"

"Lively, melodic lead and choppy rhythm - like The Long Blondes by boys"
