Amoriste is an up-and-coming indie pop band delivering a unique brand of Britpop complete with catchy melodies, uplifting beats and crafty lyrics. Originally formed in 2006 in Chelmsford, Essex (the birthplace of radio itself) and performing under previous guises including the well-known Soprano, Amoriste is now complete with a four-man line-up consisting of Liam Tolan (vocals/guitar), Phil Cockerton (keys), David Crawford (bass) and Rael Bearman (drums).

Amoriste began their career playing any venues they were given – living rooms, basements, and small neighbourhood pubs. However, it wasn’t long before the band began gaining local attention, especially with the release of their 2007 single Dirty Tricks. Once the single began receiving national airplay, the band were invited to fill more and more impressive slots, even supporting the likes of Ash and Supergrass at various UK festivals. Their newfound popularity wasn’t limited to the UK, however; they began garnering attention as far away as Germany and Croatia. It wasn’t long before the band embarked on a German tour as well as playing the Rokaj festival in Croatia, supporting the likes of The Lemonheads. The band also self-released an EP in 2008, selling 500 copies at various tour dates throughout the year. After a short hiatus in 2009 to manage line-up changes, Amoriste retreated into the thick undergrowth of the English countryside to refocus their efforts, hone their songwriting skills and perfect their live set.

Mid-2009 saw Amoriste triumphantly return better than ever, with numerous new recordings in the works, a video for the memorable single Berlin and a second video on its way. Their new material promises infectious melodies together with Tolan’s energizing vocals, revealing hints of musical influences including Athlete, Elbow, Keane and Snow Patrol. With a UK tour planned for late 2009 and plans in the works for 2010, including a full Germany tour, Amoriste have surely begun their journey back into the hearts and minds of indie pop lovers everywhere.
