DEBATE...Has Chelsea Dagger become bigger than the band? For me they will always be remembered for that annoyingly catchy song!
The Fratellis
"'T-Rex crossed with the Libertines'"
A band who played their first ever gig on 4th March, 2005 in the O'Henry's bar in Glasgow, The Fratellis have been tipped for a breakthrough year in 2006.The Fratellis EP was released April 3, 2006, featuring the tracks Creeping Up The Backstairs, Stacie Anne and The Gutterati?. Due to the limited availability, copies can now be found reaching more than £30 on eBay.The band appeared live on Later with Jools Holland and Top of the Pops in June 2006.Different sources tell of different origins of the band's name. Some claim it derives from the 1985 movie The Goonies. Others tell of the band forming from a four-piece band who would play at weddings. According to Top of the Pops, the band met after placing ads in the same record shop.

The Fratellis at Glastonbury 2008
Playing the penultimate slot on the opening day on the Pyramid Stage was always going to be a bit much for a band whose single Chelsea Dagger has become one of the most annoying pub rock songs of recent years. For me personally, the song has ruined the band and made them into nothing more than novelty rockers who should not be fit to lick the boots of Kings of Leon, the band playing after them at Glastonbury. Songs such as Creepin' up the Backstairs and Henrietta could potentially have been indie disco classics, but I cannot take this lot seriously anymore. Whenever I here the annoying intro of Chelsea Dagger I cringe. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to have as good a time as everyone else seems to when that songs being played, I'm not stuck up about it, it just grinds my gears. So for that reason, dispite their obvious outstanding energy and enthusiasm, the band were disappointing at Glastonbury 2008.
