THE WILDHEARTS
"Rock with a classic edge."
“The vibe within the group is so positive right now it's sickening! A lot of the good energy has come from our new bass player Scott Sorry. A great guy and a fantastic player, he is the most energetic performer I've ever shared a stage with. His youth certainly keeps us older bastards on our toes. It's great to have original drummer Ritch Battersby back in the band too. He is the most solid and powerful drummer I've ever had the pleasure of playing with.” - GingerThe Wildhearts return with the release of the eponymous new album through Round Records on the 23rd April 2007.After a break of almost two years, taken to work on various side projects, three original Wildhearts members Vocalist/guitarist Ginger, guitarist CJ and drummer Ritch Battersby recruited new bassist Scott Sorry (Amen, Brides Of Destruction) and began recording the album in December 2006. The album was recorded across the UK including a stint for vocals at Tutbury castle - ‘The most haunted place in the United Kingdom’. For those who might have thought the last Wildhearts album too poppy, “The Wildhearts” is a crushing return – punishing riffs, driving rhythms and classic heavy songwriting. Nine minute opener ‘Rooting For The Bad Guy’ displays a darker and heavier side to the band with huge rock hooks and classic guitar arrangements. The albums first single, ‘The Sweetest Song’, is an instant classic which encapsulates the energy of Wildhearts classics like ‘Suckerpunch’. Other album songs such as the rocked out Billy Joel nod of “The New Flesh”, the dirty punk rock of “Bi-Polar Baby”, the brooding “Slaughtered Authors” and the epic album closer ‘Destroy All Monsters’ all deliver pounding riffs whilst never forgetting the value of a good tune. The Wildhearts always know how to mix heavy as f… riffs with glorious pop melodies, and this album is no different. After returning from a successful tour of Japan and the US the band will embark on a full scale tour of the UK in April 2007 with support from Iceland’s Sign and GU Medicine.
