The album was recorded across the UK including a stint for vocals at Tutbury castle - ‘The most haunted place in the United Kingdom’. For those who might have thought the last Wildhearts album too poppy, “The Wildhearts” is a crushing return – punishing riffs, driving rhythms and classic heavy songwriting. Nine minute opener ‘Rooting For The Bad Guy’ displays a darker and heavier side to the band with huge rock hooks and classic guitar arrangements. The albums first single, ‘The Sweetest Song’, is an instant classic which encapsulates the energy of Wildhearts classics like ‘Suckerpunch’. Other album songs such as the rocked out Billy Joel nod of “The New Flesh”, the dirty punk rock of “Bi-Polar Baby”, the brooding “Slaughtered Authors” and the epic album closer ‘Destroy All Monsters’ all deliver pounding riffs whilst never forgetting the value of a good tune.
