Shibuya Crossings
"Pixies in a punch up with early REM and Teenage Fanclub with The Flaming Lips playing innocent bystanders while Neil Young and The Beatles try to stop the fight - they all become great friends in the end :)"
Shibuya Crossings have just launched their stunning debut album entitled ‘Songs For Lovesick Teenagers’. Brainchild of guitarist/singer/songwriterDeclan Harrington, Shibuya Crossings areoriginally from Belfast, Ireland evolving out of the ashes of the popular Indie Rock outfit Jude. Now based in London, UK Declan started theband as a solo project, writing, playing andproducing the entire album on his own but hasnow recruited a new line-up to back him as he takes his exciting sound out into the live arena. The album features a diverse array of influences and styles. Acclaimed debut single Typically Everybody Thinks You’re Dead demonstrates Shibuya Crossings at their energetic best. It’s driving guitars and wall-of-sound production providing the ideal backdrop for an infectious melody line and intelligent lyrics. The synth and beat-infested pop of Best I’ve Ever Had along with the angst ridden She Knows Me deliver yet more instantly memorable hooks. Declan also showcases his ability to document some of the harsh realities in life with the poignant and country-esque All I Need To Say (dealing with the death of his father) along with the dark and twisted ‘Till The Pain Is Dead’. Other highlights include two minute punk-pop frenzy 'Can You Prove (Something To Me)'. Its clever backing vocals and screaming guitars make this track the ideal candidate for the band’s second single (due for release in March 2007). The six-minute epic that is 'Hold On' closes out the album with its haunting military style drums and strings. In the sort space of time since the band has arrived on the scene they have already recieved airplay on Radio 1, XFM and 2FM in Ireland, received extensive critical acclaim in the online press and recorded 2 BBC radio sessions. The band plan to hit live circuit in January 2007 which will include a UK tour to follow the release of their second single

- We Love this, Typically, Everybody Thinks You're dead is a magical fusion of The Pixies, The Dandy Warhols and Neil Young - it's just brilliant - Cormac Battle, The Wireless RTE 2FM (Ireland)
- Our tip for the top – (Rory McConnell, Radio 1)
- With TYPICALLY, EVERYBODY THINKS YOU'RE DEAD, the band deliver a near perfect indie pop tune, infectiously catchy, noisy in all the right places and slick in all the others. A glorious collision between The Flaming Lips, The Beach Boys, Idlewild and Snow Patrol; Shibuya Crossings could well be the next genius pop band waiting to explode. If TYPICALLY, EVERYBODY THINKS YOU'RE DEAD is any indication of the quality control, expect this band to be huge. Mike Bond (Ukmusicsearch)
